This rich vegan blueberry smoothie with protein powder and nootropics is as loaded as it gets. Rocks vitamins, minerals, plant-based protein, bioactive phytonutrients, and more.
When I first started rocking this epic vegan blueberry smoothie back in my teens, I always added frozen banana to the mix. In fact I’d long considered banana a key ingredient in about every smoothie and breakfast bowl I made.
However not long ago a study showed that mixing bananas with certain flavanol foods, such as blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, apples, cocoa, and teas, significantly reduces the benefits you get, offsetting key phytonutrients by up to 84%.
So if you’re a berry/banana fan, you may want to eat them separately.
According to Dr. Michael Greger, blueberries rock “nearly 10 times more antioxidants than other fruits and vegetables.”
They’re definitely one of nature’s healthiest fruits. 💜💜

Vegan Blueberry Protein Smoothie
Equipment
Ingredients
- 11/4 cup filtered water ice.
- 1/1/3 cups plant milk.
- 1/3 cup vegan yogurt. (Frozen.)
- 1/3 cup vegan ice cream. (Either yogurt or ice cream.)
- 11/2 cups blueberries. (Fresh or frozen.)
- 1 scoop protein powder.
- 1/1/2 tsp stevia.
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract.
- 1/4 tsp pink salt.
Instructions
- Add the ingredients in the following order:
- Ice.
- Plant milk.
- Yogurt or ice cream.
- Frozen fruit.
- Vanilla.
- Stevia and salt.
- Protein powder.
- Blend until smooth or to desired consistency. If you use frozen blueberries 'and' frozen yogurt or ice cream, you may have to adjust the consistency with more plant milk.
Notes
- I’ve found that Now Better Stevia Organic Extract Powder is the only brand that’s potent enough at the above quantity. If you use another brand you’ll need to add a lot more stevia to equal the same sweetness.
- If you use sweetened yogurt or ice cream halve the stevia.
- You can adjust the quantities of ingredients to taste regarding thickness, texture, and sweetness.
- If you don’t want to use frozen yogurt or ice cream, you can always freeze coconut milk to thicken smoothies.
