If you haven’t tried Himalayan Tartary Buckwheat in waffles yet, you should give it a spin. It takes a commonplace waffle to a whole new level.
Himalayan Tartary Buckwheat (HTB) is fast becoming a go-to ingredient in the health space. If you haven’t tried it yet, you should give it a spin. It’s a powerhouse fruit seed with over 100 active phytonutrients including rutin, quercetin, luteolin, and hesperidin.
It’s also chock-full of vitamins, minerals, protein, and fiber, with a rare molecular compound that rejuvenates cells. On top of that it’s a complete protein with all nine essential amino acids and slews of prebiotics for your gut.
It rocks in pancakes, banana bread, and of course this waffles recipe when you use the superfood nutrition flour. You can get it here on Amazon.
This recipe is organic, vegan, and gluten-free.
Himalayan Tartary Buckwheat Waffles
Waffles are typically prepared in a waffle iron that’s considerably hot. It’s important to preheat it for at least 10 minutes or until the indicator light turns off.
For a deeper, crispier waffle use organic oil instead of butter in the batter. Overnight refrigeration with yeast instead of baking powder or soda produces a richer, crispier crust.

Himalayan Tartary Buckwheat Waffles Recipe
Another cool thing about HTB is it works with a variety of flours. I typically blend it with sorghum, almond, millet, and bean because it has a powerful taste.
And by the way, some folks add a little cornstarch to waffle batter for a flakier taste.
