Delicious Homemade Vegan Burger Recipe, Gluten-Free

Delicious homemade vegan burger stacked with veggies.
Spread the love

If you think a burger isn’t really a ‘burger’ without meat, well think again. This hearty vegan burger recipe is not only delicious, it’s 10 times more nutritious than conventional brands. It’s packed with fiber, over 18 grams, and tons of protein. And with no shortage of all nine essential amino acids onboard. All organic, plant-based, gluten-free.

This is my go-to vegan burger recipe that I’ve been rocking for decades.

It’s packs the whole nine yards of essential amino acids and more.

And it’s not just a burger, either — it rocks tons of foods.

From deep dish vegan pizza and lettuce wraps to stuffed bell peppers and cheesy fries.

And did I mention fiber

Over 18 grams.

And that’s without all the veggies and sprouted buns onboard.

This recipe is organic, vegan, and gluten-free.

Vegan Burger Recipe

Two stacked homemade vegan burgers.
This vegan burger recipe rocks over 21 grams of protein.

The organic brown rice and beans in this vegan burger recipe burst with protein.

Over 21 grams.

They also ramp prebiotic fiber, a boon for your gut.

According to this report:

We are learning that our population of gut bacteria interacts with our body in many remarkable ways, from stimulating our immune system to producing neurotransmitter molecules that ride the bloodstream up to the brain and influence our very thoughts and moods! A healthy population of normal gut microbes helps to prevent unfriendly bacteria and yeast from injuring the intestinal wall, which can result in increased intestinal permeability – the so-called “leaky-gut syndrome.” This can, in turn, lead to severe inflammation and autoimmune diseases that can damage vital organs and even threaten our lives.

Prebiotic fiber feeds the friendly bacteria in your biome.

So when you eat, they eat—win-win.

Here’s an overview of what you’ll need (the full recipe is below):

  • Organic black beans and kidney beans.

  • Organic sprouted brown rice.

  • Organic sprouted rolled oats.

  • Organic breadcrumbs.

  • Nutritional yeast.

  • Organic BBQ sauce.

  • Organic teriyaki sauce.

  • Organic vegan Worcestershire sauce.

  • Chopped organic veggies.

  • Vegan egg substitute.

  • Organic garlic.

  • Organic extra-virgin olive oil.

  • Organic herbs and spices.

  • Unprocessed salt and pepper.

I use homemade croutons for the breadcrumbs.

Notes on Kitchenware

If you haven’t invested yet in high-quality non-toxic kitchenware, it’s well worth it. Properly cared for it lasts a long time and supports health.

You can also recycle glass jars and non-toxic containers from products you already buy and use them as food storage containers—which helps the environment and your wallet.

Look for conscientious packaging (BPA & phthalate free, etc.) that you can reuse.

Homemade Vegan Burger

Stack of vegan burger patties in cast iron by several homemade vegan burgers.
This vegan burger recipe is highly versatile.

Vegan burgers are clearly tastiest when they’re stacked.

Here are some suggestions . . .

Burger Topping Ideas

  • Avocado.
  • Tomato.
  • Greens (arugula, spinach, etc.).
  • Sprouts and microgreens.
  • Onions & garlic.
  • Organic pickles.
  • Organic cucumbers.
  • Organic jalapenos.
  • Vegan cheese.
  • Condiments like vegan mayonnaise, organic ketchup, stone-ground mustard, etc.

The line blurs when a vegan burger recipe becomes a veggie burger recipe with additions like dairy—e.g., cheese, real mayo, etc.

Many vegetarians skip meat but eat dairy.

However to keep it vegan, I just use vegan ‘cheese’ and vegan mayo.

Melting vegan cheese on top makes it juicy and adds nutrients.

It turns a vegan burger into a vegan ‘cheeseburger’ fast.

There are also tons of vegan condiments.

And as I mentioned before, there’s a lot you can do with vegan burger patties on top of just making burgers.

  • 2 tablespoons organic vegan Worcestershire sauce.
  • 1 cup finely chopped organic onion, celery, garlic, bell pepper, parsley, and grated carrot.
  • 2 'eggs' (vegan substitute).
  • 1 tablespoon organic garlic granules.
  • 2 tablespoons organic extra-virgin olive oil.
  • 3 teaspoons salt and pepper (Himalayan, Celtic, unprocessed).
  • You can also add paprika, cumin, cayenne, turmeric, chili powder, and other spicy herbs.

Instructions

  • Precook the rice and refrigerate until firm.
  • Preheat oven to 375.

  • Combine teriyaki, Worcestershire, BBQ sauce, egg substitute, garlic powder, salt & pepper.
  • Lightly saute veggies in olive oil for about 5 minutes and add to beans.

  • Bake for 20 minutes until crust forms, then flip and bake another 10-15 minutes or until done.
  • Serve on buns, bread, or tortillas with your choice of condiments.

Notes
