Spread the love

Looking back on it, I always thought that homemade guacamole originated in Mexico. Who would’ve guessed that the first guacamole recipe was published in the 1600s by naturalist William Dampier? Noting a simple concoction of mashed avocado, sugar, and lime made by natives of Central America, his published account is the first known guacamole recipe on record. And as we all know, it has since evolved. Nowadays guacamole is a popular dip and appetizer including tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, cilantro, and lemon or lime. This guacamole recipe is organic, vegan, and gluten-free.

And as we all know, it has since evolved.

Nowadays guacamole is a popular dip and appetizer including tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, cilantro, and lemon or lime.

And being that I’m a huge avocado fan—I eat at least an avocado a day—half the time I’m mashing them into homemade dressings, eating them plain, or whipping up another fresh guacamole recipe.

Homemade guacamole is nutrient-dense.

This fresh homemade guacamole recipe makes one of the most delicious and nutritious foods around.

It’s my go-to guacamole recipe I’ve been rocking for decades.

It’s easy to make, gluten-free, and 100% organic.

It’s also chock-full of nutrients like vitamin E.

Here’s a summary of the ingredients in this recipe (full measurements below):

  • Organic avocadoes.

  • Organic onion.

  • Organic garlic.

  • Organic tomato.

  • Fresh lemon/lime.

  • Organic Jalapeno peppers.

  • Unprocessed salt and pepper.

  • Dash of stevia.

  • Spices.

And did you know that there’s a certain way to cut an avocado to get more of its nutrients?

According to Nutritionfacts.org:

Consumers should be advised to use the “nick and peel” method “to obtain the nutrient-rich outer section of the avocado.” The Tufts Health & Nutrition Letter detailed what that means: Cut the avocado in half lengthwise around the seed, rotate a quarter-turn, cut lengthwise again to make quarter-avocado segments, separate the quarters, remove the seed, and, finally, starting from the tip, nick and carefully peel each segment, so as not to lose that nutrient-rich, darkest green flesh immediately under the skin.

This guacamole recipe rocks over 10 grams of fiber.

The lemon/lime in this guacamole recipe helps preserve freshness.

It also boosts nutrients.

And making your own lemon/lime juice blending whole fruits in their peels couldn’t be easier.

Add some purified water to the desired consistency and done.

It also freezes.

If I ever have leftovers—rare—I add it to a vegan dressing, avocado toast, party dips.
